About Me
I’m a potter who graduated from the Design Crafts course at De Montfort University in 2023, and since then, I’ve launched my own pottery business. Every piece I create is thrown on the pottery wheel, a process I love for its immediacy and responsiveness. I’m fascinated by the intimate connection between maker and material, and throwing allows me to fully appreciate the craftsmanship involved in shaping clay.
My work blends traditional techniques with a modern, tactile aesthetic. I believe pottery is all about connection- between the user, the object, and the maker- so my pieces are designed to be held, used, and enjoyed. There’s something magical about transforming a lump of clay into a fine-walled vessel, and that transformation continues to excite and inspire me.
In 2024, I was fortunate enough to be a contestant on The Great Pottery Throw Down. The experience was incredible and it helped me grow not only as a potter, but as a person. Most importantly, it gave me the confidence to pursue my passion for pottery as a full-time career.
Thank you for supporting Sophie Wootton Design. I look forward to sharing my passion for handmade craftsmanship with you.
